Together Again: A Jacaranda Farm Reunion

On 16 April 2023, Queensland Shanghai Metropolitan Association brought Shanghai families and friends from across Queensland together at a beautiful jacaranda farm in Canungra. After three years of waiting, this first gathering following the COVID-19 pandemic was a chance to reconnect, catch up and enjoy a day in the countryside. Families brought homemade specialities to share, with the durian pastries a particular favourite. 妮娅小厨 contributed Shanghai dishes including braised wheat gluten (kaofu), sweet-and-sour pork ribs and Shanghai-style smoked fish. Sponsor-supported whole roast lamb and lamb skewers were highlights of the feast, bringing everyone together around the barbecue and shared tables. Children enjoyed activities of their own, while horse riding added to the day’s outdoor fun. From the shared meal to conversations on the lawn, the gathering celebrated the warmth of our community and the joy of being together again. We thank naming sponsor SC Brokers (世诚金融), platinum sponsors 汇宏投资移民留学公司 and Sunlit Asian Supermarket (三一亚洲超市), and gift sponsors 美思酒业, Lilong, 米拉尼冰淇淋 and 妮娅小厨. Thank you to the sponsors, families and helpers who made the reunion possible.
