About us
Who we are
Established in 2017, the Queensland Shanghai Metropolitan Association is a legally registered not-for-profit community organisation. We bring together people of Shanghai heritage living in Queensland, helping them connect, broaden their networks and strengthen cultural ties with other community organisations. We also provide members with support and services in everyday life, work and study.
Celebrating Shanghai culture
We celebrate the rich cultural heritage and inclusive, open-minded spirit of Shanghai, the foremost metropolis of the Far East. We are committed to passing on the Shanghainese language and the distinctive culture of the people of Shanghai.
Friendship and opportunity
Our gatherings embody the Shanghainese expression “老嗲额” — a wonderfully enjoyable time — offering members a welcoming place to socialise. We strive to be a dependable connector, a “模子” in building relationships, helping members meet talented people and expand their networks. We also encourage business exchange and collaboration, bringing the distinctive Shanghai flair known as “腔调” to our activities and creating more opportunities for members to do business and work together.
