Opening Celebration: Setting Sail on the Brisbane River
Date
Location
A chartered boat on the Brisbane River, Brisbane
On 26 May 2018, Queensland Shanghai Metropolitan Association celebrated its opening aboard a chartered boat on the Brisbane River. More than 100 guests joined the gathering, sharing an evening of conversation, food and entertainment against the city’s riverside lights. A buffet brought everyone together around the table, while Shanghai community members from across Queensland shared their talents. Stand-up comedy, dance and other performances filled the evening with laughter and applause. The stage belonged to the community, with familiar cultural connections helping new friendships take shape. This celebration marks the first chapter of our activity history: a place for Shanghai people in Queensland to meet, chat and feel connected. The warmth of that evening continues through the gatherings and shared memories that followed.
